Mayor Martin Chavez is right there collecting credit at press conferences when APD or AFD does something good and public service-like. All "Good for you Albuquerque!" like.
But when Albuquerque Police beat up a bar owner, participate in a raid of a homosexual establishment and take three and a half hours to respond to a domestic violence call turned murder-suicide in the course of about a week, we don't hear from Marty at all.
Apparently the Mayor of Albuquerque can pick and choose which news to associate himself with. The rest of it is not his problem. Just ours.
We listen to a hollow silence from a void behind pretty spokesperson Trish Hoffman's shoulder. She has nice hair, we think. She says that policy has changed. If she was in charge I might believe her.
