New Mexico is postponing a world peace conference. Timing is everything, apparently.
The Santa Fe New Mexican quotes Governor Richardson's State Tourism Secretary, Mike Cerletti:
"Because this is a first-time event, we want to make sure we do everything possible to make the World Peace Conference an unqualified success," he said. "We want to reach out even further than we already have, so all viewpoints are heard and considered. We will now have more time to ensure we have extended that opportunity to all and make it a world-class event."
I wish we had that level of committment to actual world peace. Maybe Washington should plan a conference and Santa Fe should work on the Middle East.
A President Richardson wouldn't say shit to Tony Blair.
I hope that's just distant thunderstorms I hear this morning and not explosives.
Oh my. Best headline ever.
