Here's a final opportunity to dread the beginning of another work week but I'm really looking forward to it. I think I'm going to miss Mondays after retirement. Not really. Sort of.
Everyone asks what I'll do now. I told a friend that I would drown my cynicism and disappointment about local government in red wine and mimosas. She said, "Yes, but what are you going to do after you retire?"
I have a few other favorite answers:
- Grow mushrooms, burros, bees and birds.
- Travel to Asia, Italy and Wales.
- Start a big art project on the ranch involving vintage travel trailers. Or a circus. Or both.
I've got a little speech planned about finding joy and significance in government work. But the cake will be good.
