I used to work in the economic developmetn field, and I recall that the Local Economic Development Act (State statute) specifically excluded retail development as an eligible use, so I don't understand how they plan to use it to subsidize a shopping center. But what do I know...

If it's not concentration of wealth, it's concentration of land ownership. However did OWS miss this? We should confiscate this land and re-distribute it in 40 acre parcels to all those grads who majored in "University Studies" and now can't find a job. I just don't know where we are going to find all those mules.

On a more serious note, if you read the LEDA application you will see that most of the tax revenue projected to be generated is actually due to taxing agencies other than Bernalillo County. The revenue stream at the completion of Phase I, whenever that might be, is only a fraction of the $2+ million promised in the pro formas. Typical developer tap dance.
