Casino and County
Wednesday, April 20, 2005
Las Cruces Sun-News says Dona Ana County Commission will now talk about the proposed Jemez Pueblo AKA Gerald Peters casino at a regular board meeting. This comes after worrying about it last week and going into a closed session to talk about whether to talk about it or not.
One issue is the County agreement with a clause that says you can never amend it. The agreement also says the County will get $560k from the developer for emergency services and infrastructure a year. And the off-reservation casino will be exempt from property taxes.
Big time blogger Joe Monahan knows all about it and is involved, apparently representing casino foes. Read all about the Committee to Protect Dona Ana County.
Betting on it, Coco
