Caldera The UNM President's resignation yesterday just has to have a great backstory.    I'm thinking Caldera will probably teach about it someday in law school.

The Santa Fe New Mexican has a spirited comment exchange about it in which readers have brought up Manny Aragon and his Presidency of Highlands University and raised a backhanded suggestion of him as replacement.

::nails on chalkboard::

What would cause someone to leave the UNM Presidency?  Hmmmmm.  Pure supposition here.

They didn't like his suits?  No.  Let's see.  Something about politics and money?  It just always is, right?    Maybe something that's big and has a lot of potential that people can disagree about.  Maybe something like huge-ass land deals?

Santa Fe New Mexican hints at this:

Caldera had received a $25,000 bonus in 2004, and regents had praised him for a job well done. But the board withheld the bonus last year over his failure to finalize a management team or complete negotiations on a development deal in south Albuquerque.

That would be Mesa del Sol.  And there's another deal about a new campus in Rio Rancho.

Or maybe it was his suits.  Coco
